Web Engineer (Developer)

We’re looking for a web engineer who can help us take control of the technology that powers our online education and software business.

This role will consists of about 70% hands on development, 20% working with outside freelancers (we have several developers, designers, and people we work with already), and 10% creating a unified way to deploy technology (example: creating standard operating procedures for deploying a new web app or technology).

You see, I launched Social Triggers back in 2011, and what started as a small blog, quickly became a top destination for people who strive to Be The Exception in both business and life.

We are a personal development company, and we believe in the power of education. We publish helpful videos, articles, and online training courses that have reached more than 7,000,000 people around the world.

Right now, we sell in-depth online training courses, publish a popular YouTube TV show, released a popular software product called ZippyCourses, and deployed several pieces of technology that allows us to reach more people…

…and that’s why we need you.

The bulk of our technology has been developed by freelancers: this includes a dynamic lead generation quiz, smart checkout pages, custom built lead generation pages that integrate with several different services through APIs, and other custom, one-off WordPress plugins that run on our site. And we need someone to take charge of all of this while also making time to make strategic recommendations for improvement.

(The one thing I pride myself on is this: if something can be done better, and that means we have to throw something out and start over, I have no problem doing that. I have no “attachment” to existing systems, and the thing I value more than anything is the BEST implementation).

That said…

The immediate benefits of this position are as follows:

1. You will work alongside the CEO to help us set the strategic vision and direction for our technology needs. While this will begin as a hands-on development role, it can also lead into a leadership role for the right person.

2. You can work from anywhere as long as you have a fast internet connection. Social Triggers employs 15+ people (a combination of employees and contractors), and the whole team is remote. We keep in touch over Slack, Google Video Chat, and other web platforms.

3. You’ll be paid to do what you already love to do… build cool stuff that has the potential to impact millions of people around the world.

4. You’ll get to work in a fast growing online training and software company. And there are loads of growth opportunities now (and in the future).

5. You’ll learn the ins and outs of running a profitable business. Unlike most startups, we don’t rely on VC money. We’re 100% self-funded, and we plan on scaling this business fast.

6. You’ll be part of a company that has one main goal: Helping people get more of what they want (whether it’s in business or life). And you know what? We change lives – and we’re proud of it.

7. You’ll get generous paid vacation time (including time off for holidays).

8. We cover health insurance 100% for individuals (and offer a family plan option as well).

Other Skills…

* Experience with project management a major plus

Additionally, must take a proactive approach to communication: if you’re going to deliver something past deadline, don’t tell us “after” you miss it. Tell us before you miss it so we can prepare.

* No matter the problem, the ability to know that the answer is always Yes, and here’s what it’s going to take. As an example: let’s say we need something built in 6 weeks. If you think you can’t do it by yourself, you should come with prepared with recommendations on how to get it done – even if we have to staff up to pull it off.
