High dropout rates could be related to people leaving a blog fast, as an example. Even though the content may be great, the readers get bored fast or lose interest because they don’t get what they want right away.

I agree with short lessons because I don’t enjoy 1-2hs lessons because I feel overwhelmed or bored. With short lessons, that’s a thing of the past because you can enjoy it and advance at your own pace.

Teasers are also great and I found them very often and it works well. I have many things to do, definitely a favorite to read it again later. Thanks a lot!

I cannot believe that the guys out there with online courses does not follow these guidelines.
I have done quite a number (probably more than 15) online courses for research I am doing and some of them are probably the worst on the net.

I agree with everything that is said here, maybe I can just add, learn from the guys who is makinh games. Gamify your course. Derek talks about keeping first lesson short etc. but whay about a basic system of recognition sysmbols like in games.

Appart from that I would like to add that an online course is a business and should be run like one. If you do not have the skills read up on it. You are welcome to buy my book Successful Entrepreneurship: A practical guide (available on Amazon) if you do not know where to start.

Thanks for a great Blog.
